280zx for your time

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Was headed to out old condo building with a pool for the kiddos (sidenote: anyone looking to buy or rent in Alexandria VA?). Entered an intersection on a green, turned yellow as I waited for an old man with a walker in the crosswalk, when a guy on a bike and no helmet blew through the red a few feet in front of me. With my eyes on the guy in the crosswalk I never saw him. If my wife hadn’t I really might’ve killed him. So goddamn dumb. Running a red with a car in the intersection with no helmet. Jesus.

Above 280 parked across from my wife while we lived there. Gorgeous car, only the automatic prevents me from seriously lusting after it.

So many cyclists suck at life so hard. I’ve know many who’ve been hit. They’re magically always the victim who did no wrong.

“I was going about 30 mph on my bike through an intersection and this asshole pulled right out in front of me”

“Oh, they ran a red?”

“No, they had the green but they should know to look out for bikes”

Recently I was trying to leave a coffee shop next to a bike shop. Early Sunday morning and the bike shop was closed but riders gathered for the weekend ride. They refused to let me out so they could continue their conversation instead of moving 6 feet into an empty spot. I had to just keep backing up like I was going to hit them before they’d move. Found out later they yelled and cussed at an elderly man for trying to use a handicap spot they wanted for their bikes

I like that hood intake.

I almost hit a teenager at night one time. It was around midnight on a street with no lighting and he or she (baggy clothes) walked across the steeet to an apartment complex across a 45 mph street wearing all black with their hood up. Closest I’ve ever come to killing a person.

I ride a lot. I always obey traffic signs and ride very defensively. It just pisses me off to no end people on bikes who run stop signs and lights, also ridding at night on the wrong side of the road with no lights wearing black clothing, saw that too much in my old neighborhood.

When I was at Georgia Tech I saw a kid on a bike run a stop sign in front of a cop. The cop light him up and probably gave him a ticket, it was sweet justice.

I was driving around Roswell one time in the M3 with the windows down and a guy on a bike ran a red light. So I said out the window “laws apply to you to motherfucker.”

The running stop lights and stop signs infuriates me. You’re out to exercise. Who cares if it’s harder to get back up to speed. You’re exercising.

I saw an article once that made the case the color of clothes doesn’t matter, the difference in the distance you notice is irrelevant at speed. Unless you have something reflective, you’re in trouble either way. Why people aren’t careful is beyond me.

Ugh. You’re on wheels, on the road. Obey the laws for your own damn safety. And even then, if being in the right of way going to make you feel better when you come out on the losing side of the car-bike momentum equation?

This was badly timed too, I don’t think they looked before crossing. A little farther down was a liquor store so maybe they were drunk or something. They crossed almost perfectly for me to hit them and I saw them at the last second because a car was coming the hill the other way. I looked to see if they hit them but it looked like they somehow made it.

I have saved the asses of way too many cyclists, and only ever gotten middle fingers, dirty looks, and yelling in return. It’s like you’re legally required to be a suicidal asshole in order to buy a fixie.

Cyclists with helmets/lights/gear/good road bikes are almost never a problem in my experience, it’s the young casuals or alcoholics with suspended licenses.

I’m right there with you. It’s one of the reasons I always ride alone. Club “cyclists” like to think they are in a race and will blow past all traffic control devices.

Not all cyclists are out exercising. The worst offenders are the couriers who are riding for a living. For years I commuted by bike, but I was also one of the rare people actually obeying the traffic laws.

Alexandria is rotten with these idiots. There must be 3000 miles of well maintained local bike paths and everyday when I come home from work I almost get the pleasure of hitting one blowing through a 4 way stop. The look of indignation is my favorite. As though I am to blame for their ignorance.

God I’d own one of these.

And if I did

It’d be two tone

It’s the only one I’ve seen like that, and it looks so good I wonder why I don’t see more.
